A strip of white sand located on the eastern side of the Mediterranean Sea.The water temperature on that part of the sea is considered the warmest, so during most months of the year the temp’ is over 74ºf (23ºc) which makes the bathing very warm and pleasant.The strip extends about 3 miles (5 km) and cosists of 3 beaches: Nuweiba, Mikhmoret and Beit Yanai, each beach has it is own character:
Nuweiba Beach: the northern and the largest of the three.The beach is part of Hasharon state park and because it’s an unproclaimed beach it tends to attract quiet-seeking visitors, naturalists and local students.The beach is composed of 3 isolated bays which contain reefs with plenty of underwater life: crabs, starfish and variety of fish.Occasionally, visitors catch sight of the soft turtle, which goes offshore to lay its eggs.
Mikhmoret Beach: located to the west of the Marine Studies School.It has kept its authentic character over the years.The beach is composed of 2 bays.The northern one is knowen as the brithplace of the most well-known Israeli surfers and the other bay is filled with beautiful reefs.Many visitors come to camp out on the beach at night and to have barbeques and bonfires as the whether at the beach at night time is very pleasant .The banana beach, which based on Mikhmoret Beach, holds beach parties and reggae nights occasionally (view photos).
Beit Yanai Beach: the most popular and well known of the three, is the place to see be seen; hosts a beautiful crowd of young people who come from all over the valley.The white sandy beach and crystal blue water are well-known for their beauty and attract visitors from all over Israel.Besides being pearl of beauty the beach also has a reputation as the Mecca for Kite surfers and on an average day you can see dozens of parachutes in the air carrying surfers from all over Israel.Surf Point, a kite surfing school that opreates on the beach, is part of the vibrant kite surfing scene (view photos).
